Take Back the Tech 2008

Join us online as we gear up for 16 days of technical action to resist domestic violence. Take Back the Tech is all about getting women to reclaim technology for change and resistance. Check out the website for cool ways that women’s rights groups are using technology to raise awareness, as well as things that you can do to get involved.

E2 power consumption breakdown

The Aleutia E2 is one of the lowest power consuming PCs available that can still perform everyday tasks such as email, word processing, web browsing and play full screen video (but not on YouTube or BBC iPlayer – yet). To demonstrate just how much of a saving on energy consumption (and your bill) this little machine has to offer we have done the maths using publicly available information.

Settings at a glance

Use these settings to configure your dial-up networking, email and FTP software for connecting to GreenNet’s online services.

Power failure Friday 14/11/2008 and Saturday 15/11/2008

Friday night the co-location center we host our servers in was hit by a power failure. After the power supply was restored our engineers restored most services through the night and early hours of Saturday morning.

A second power failure hit the co-location center Saturday afternoon. We have managed to restore all services by 6pm Saturday.

We apologise for the inconvenience.

So you've read about the Aleutia E2 ultra low-power computer but still can't make up your mind? We have a little video demonstrating how easy it is to setup with a solar panel and battery pack, as well as VESA mounting on the back of a monitor for home, office or educational use.
